Advices and preparations of Santiago's path

The Santiago’s path is an experience that travellers do it to arrive at Santiago de Compostela. It started in the Middle Age when the apostle’s relics were found, and the people wanted to see them.

Physical preparation:

Before do it the Santiago’s path we have to be strong and tough for very long walks. So, we recommend practicing some activities:

First, we have to train our feet and our legs. This is very important because we need to be in shape. If you want to be in shape, you must walk everyday, approximate the kilometres that you are going to do in the different steps of the Santiago’s path, usually there are 20-25 km. You can also carry on a backpack with the approximate weight that you are going to take.

(Recommended) Materials:

  • We recommended taking a big backpack with some important and necessary things. The backpack should have many pockets and a waterproof. You must take a sleeping-bag too.
  • You must take clothes for a week: t-shirts, four or five pairs of socks, fleeces, underwear, a hat and a solar glasses to protect you of the sun, trousers, mountain shoes, a raincoat…
  • It’s also necessary to go with some bottles of water, food, solar cream, insecticide…
  • You can take other things that you believe they are important. For example, if you have allergic reactions, you can take pills or something else. For security, they must be in little pockets of your backpack .
  • It’s so important to don’t take more weight than 10% of your body weight because you are going to walk during hours and it’s better to be comfortable.
